ලන්කාව කලින් කලට ලෝකයට විහිලු සැපයීමේලා ප්‍රසිද්ධය. මේ තවත් එක් එවැනි මාතෘකාවකි. මේ සියල්ලක්ම පාහේ රටේ පනවන බලධාරින් විසින් රැඩිකල් යයි කියා සිතන නීති මගින් වීම පුදුමයට කරුණකි. නමුත් අපිට ලැජ්ජාවේ සිටින්නට සිදුවන්නේ ලෝකයා මේවාට සිනාසෙන විටය. මේ පුවත අසන්නට ලැබුනු සැනින් සිතෙන්නේ ලන්කාවේ ඉතාමත් අසභ්‍ය ලෙස වර්ගීකරණය කල තෙවනි පන්තියේ චිත්‍රපට පෙන්වූ බවත් එම නිසා සමාජය විනාශ වෙමින් පවතින බවත්ය. නමුත් සත්‍ය වන්නේ ලන්කාවේ සිනමා ශාලාවල පෙන්වූ චිත්‍රපට සමහරක් රටවල් විසින් “අසභ්‍ය” ලෙසවත් ගනන් නොගන්නා බවය. ලන්කාව බෞද්ධ රටක් බැවින් කිසි විටෙක එවැනි දෙයක් අපේක්ශා කල නොහැක.

මේ තහනමට හේතුව ලෙසින් රජය දක්වා තිබෙන්නේ “ලමා මනස දූෂණය වීමය“. මේවායේ ප්‍රචාරක කටයුතු නිසා ( උදා: පෝස්ටර්, රූපවාහිනී දැන්වීම්) නිසා ඉහත කරුණ සිදුවිය හැකි බව පිලිගත යුත්තකි. නමුත් එම දැන්වීම් සම්බන්ධයෙන් නොසෑහී රජය මත්පැන් දැන්වීම්ද මත්පැන් භාවිතා කරනා දර්ශනද (කොටු කොටු සීන්ස්) තහනම් කලේ රූපවාහිනියේ චිත්‍රපට බැලීම එපා කරවමිනි. මෙය සිදුවූයේ බොහෝ කලකට පෙරය.

නමුත් නියම ප්‍රශ්නය වන්නේ ළමුන් මේවා බලන්නට යනවාද යන්නය. ඕනෑම ජරාවක් කා නීති කඩකරන එවුන් සිටින රටේ ළමුන්ද හොරෙන් මේවා බලන්නට යනවා යැයි සිතිය හැකි වුවද,වැඩිහිටියන් නොදන්නා ක්‍රම ඕනෑ තරම් නව ළමා පරපුරට මේවා බැලීමට ඇත. මෙම නීතිය නිෂ්ඵල වන්නේ එම “අනෙකුත් ක්‍රම” නිසාය.

අන්තර්ජාලය : අන්තර්ජාලය ගැන වැඩිහිටියන්ගේ, විෂේශයෙන්ම දෙමාපියන්ගේ දැනුම ඉතා ස්වල්පය. හොඳ සම්බන්තාවක් (බෑන්ඩ්විත් එකක්) ඇත්නම් දෙමාපියන්ට වඩා හොඳට ලිංගික දැනුම ලබාගන්නට දරුවාට පුලුවන. අන්තර්ජාලයෙන් මේවා ලබාගන්නා ක්‍රම කිහිපයකි. Rapidshare, mediafire වැනි filesharing sites එක් ක්‍රමයක් පමණි. (මම මීට වඩා විස්තර නොසයපමි ). මේවා හිර කරන්නට ආණ්ඩුව අන්තර්ජාල සැපයුම් කරුවන්ට නියෝග කර ඇත. ඒනමුදු, සරල ක්‍රම මගින් ඒවා ඉක්මවිය හැක. (ටැමිල්නෙට් අඩවියට වුනාක් මෙන්). මේ සියල්ල හිර කල හැකි තාක්ෂණයක් ඇත්තේ චීනයට පමණි. ඉහත Rapidshare, mediafire වැනි filesharing sites වලින් ඇති ප්‍රයෝජන (අසභ‍ය නොවන ) බොහෝය. ටොරන්ට් භාවිතයෙන් කරන භාගත කිරීම් මේ ක්‍රමයට නැවත්විය නොහැක. එම නිසා ආණ්ඩුව ඉදිරියේදී පෝර්ට්ස් බ්ලොක් කරන්න කීවොත් මා පුදුම නොවෙමි.නමුත් ටොරන්ට් නැවත්තුවොත් 95% පමන සියලු අන්තර්ජාල භාගත කිරීම් ඇනහිටී. එවිට අන්තර්ජාල සම්බන්දතාවකින් “වැඩක් නැති” තත්වයට පත්වේ!

ජංගම දත්ත ගබඩා (ෆ්ලෑෂ් ඩ්‍රයිව්ස්) : මේවායේ පැය ගනන් චිත්‍රපට ගබඩා කල හැක. කුඩා ප්‍රමානවලින් යුක්ත නිසා පහසුවෙන් සඟවා ගෙන පාසලට පවා මේවා රැගෙන යා හැක.

සීඩී සහ ඩීවීඩී තැටි : මේවා තවමත් ඕනෑම නගරයකින් මිලදී ගත හැක. (හිස් ඒවා නොවේ!). නමුත් මේ ගැන දෙමාපියන්ගේ දැනුම වැඩි බැවින් භාවිතයෙන් තුරන් වෙමින් පවතී.

සඟරා සහ පින්තූර : දෙමාපියන් සිතන්නේ ඔවුන් භාවිතා කල ක්‍රම තවමත් භවිතයේ පවතින භවය!

නීතිය නිසා වන හානි :

1. දැනටමත් පාඩු පිට දුවන සිනමාශාලා ගාන “ෂේප්” කරන්නේ “ජරාවක්” පෙන්වීමෙනි. තහනමත් සමඟ මේවා වැසී යනු ඇති අතර සිංහල චිත්‍රපට පෙන්වීමට තැනක් නැති වනු ඇත.

2. ඉහත කී තාක්ෂණික දැනුම නොමැති වැඩිහිටියන් (95% ට වඩා)ඔවුන්ගේ “අවශ්යතාවයන්” පිනවා ගනීමට ක්‍රමයක් නොමැති නිසා අසහනයට පත්වේ…වෙනත් භයානක ක්‍රම අත්හදා බලීමට තැත්කිරීමෙන්… සමාජ අර්බුද ඇතිවිය හැක? කෙසේ නමුත් චන්දය නැතිවන බවනම් සිකුරුය!රජකාලේ මස් කෑම, මත්පැන් ගැනීම තහනම් කලත් ගණිකා වෘත්තිය තහනම් නොකලේ මන්දැයි සිතිය යුතුය!

අවසානයට කිවයුතු වන්නේ මෙම නීතියද “ගණිකා වෘත්තිය තහනම” මෙන් වනු අති බවය! (අ‘පුර, කොලඹ ගිය ඕනෑ කෙනෙක් මම කියන දේ දනී). රෝමෙත් පෙන්නපු “Da Vinci Code” ලන්කාවේ තහනම මෙන් ලෝකයාගේ සිනහවට භාජනය නොවී මහින්ද රාජපක්ෂ ජනපති තුමා මේ ගැන සිතා බලා කටයුතු කරනු ඇතයි මම සිතමි. (මම කිසිලෙසකින් ආණ්ඩු විරෝධියෙක් නොවේ!)

මගේ ලිනක්ස් සඟරාව සිංහලට හරවනවට වඩා තාක්ෂණික නොවන සංවේදී දේවල් කතාකරන මේ සඟරාව වැඩේට ගැලපෙනවා. හපොයි… දෙය්යනේ මුලු වෙබ් අඩවියම සිංහලට හරවන්න එපැයි.හුඟක් වෙලා යාවි වගේ……අපේ විභාගෙ ඊළඟ මාසෙ පළවෙනිදා…..මම මෙතන සිංහල ලියන්න පුරුදු වෙනවා….හි හී මට පිස්සු වගේ…. දැන් මේ ලිව්වා ඇති. පසුව හමුවෙමු….. සුභ වෙසක්……

The whole purpose of this article is to remind some sri lankans about a battle which they have almost forgotten.

There was a time when the whole world was at war. World had divided in to two groups the axis powers (Germany,Japan,Italy etc..) and allied powers (UK,USA,Russia etc..). And the island of Ceylon, now Sri Lanka was under British colonial rule, hence was on the allied side. The life style of the people of this island is about to change in a battle unimaginable for them, in year 1942.

Then prime minister of UK, Mr. Winston Churchill called it the “the most dangerous moment of WWII”. He added that ” …the Japanese capture of Ceylon, the consequent control of the Indian Ocean and the possibility of a German conquest of Egypt would have closed the ring and the future would have been black.” (extracted from www.lankalibrary.com)

Last week I happened to watch three movies Pearl Harbour, Letters from Iwo Jima and Australia. All of these movies talked about Japanese involvement in WWII, so I remembered about the Japanease bombing of ceylon which my grand father had told me; so I started digging it.

By the time, Japan had managed to almost completely sweep the pacific and southeast Asia, and they had captured singapore, chasing out the British Eastern fleet. To take control over the Indian ocean, Ceylon was the next target which was the last remaining naval base in Indian ocean. The remnants of the British Eastern fleet anchored here, but was sent to Maldives before the attack came to avoid apocalypse.

The Japanease fleet consisting of four fast battleships, three cruisers, eight destroyers and the carriers Akagi, Hiryu, Soryu, Shokadu and Zuikaku headed to attack colombo and Ratmalana RAF base. Suprisingly they were spotted by a catalina aircraft which was later shot down by a zero fighter of Japanese navy. Anyway, Commander Birchall, who was in the catalina had managed to radio the position of the fleet.

On 5^th of April, 36 val dive bombers, 53 kate torpedo bombers and 36 zero fighters took off from the carriers to attack Colombo. They flew from Galle to Colombo, but RAF fighters (Hurricanes) of No.30 squadron were still on ground as nobody informed them. Due to heavy flak fire (anti-aircraft) first zero was shot down at kalutara, second on katubadda and next on to the st. Thomas school cricket ground. A total of 5 planes went down, and the RAF lost 27 planes. Bombing the harbour, they destroyed the destroyer Tenedos and auxiliary cruiser Hector. The mental hospital at Angoda was also bombed mistakenly. The heavy cruisers Cornwall and Dorsetshire were detected in south-western sea 200 miles off the coast and were bombed and sunk by the Japanese navy. Royal Navy lost 424 sailors.

On 9^th, they attacked Trincomalee and the ships which were on the harbour. The Australian cruiser vampire and corvette hollyhock were sunk at the harbour. The air-craft carrier Hermes has left in the night, but was spotted by a spy plane off the coast of batticaloa. She was having repairs at the harbour, hence had no planes on it. Defenseless, it was hit 40 times by 70 bombers before sinking. 307 sailors were killed, 590 were picked up. RAF lost 8 hurricanes, and Japanese lost 11 planes.

Anyway, Japanese have to withdraw due a issue coming up at the Philippines, so Ceylon was out from horror that time. The thing is that 67 years ago, a massive fleet of 125 aircraft attacked Colombo. But in 2007, a bombing of 3 LTTE aircraft made some people frightened of being killed ! During the years the war in the air has converted in to a battle of MIG-27′s, Kfirs and J-7′s but this time, not the RAF, the Sri Lankan air force is commanding them
